Shell's Wonderful World of Golf was a weekly television series that aired from 1962 through 1970 and was the first golf matches ever filmed for a television series. This video is a golf match between Dow Finsterwald and Peter Alliss played at Tryall Golf Club, in Jamaica and aired January 27, 1963. The Tryall Golf Club in Montego Bay, Jamaica, is a 6, 400 yard, par 71 layout that features wide fairways and well-bunkered greens. Though short by most standards, Tryall is susceptible to the prevailing winds blowing off the beautiful Caribbean. A holder of 11 PGA Tour events Dow Finsterwald has always been known for his superb short game. Finsterwald won the 1958 PGA Championship, and played on four Ryder Cup Teams and was the non-playing captain in 1977. Peter Alliss, son of British great Percy Alliss, was an accomplished amateur golfer in England before making his way into the professional ranks. As a professional, he became known as one of the game's fiercest match players, appearing on 8 Ryder Cup Teams from 1953 to 1969. 60 Minutes.
